Malta has one of the highest levels of vehicle ownership per capita, which, coupled with the size of our islands, makes our roads so densely populated with cars. When you add to this the sheer disregard to traffic regulations shown by many and the high expense involved in repairing a car, it only makes it sensible to insure one's motor vehicle properly.
Many today are realizing that, although it is the most expensive cover, a Comprehensive policy makes most sense. We are however also listing the extent of cover provided by the Third Party Only and the Third Party Fire & Theft policies.

How much should I insure my car for?
The amount you insure your car for should reflect the current market value of your car. What your car is currently worth is not necessarily what you would like to believe - however, it is useless to insure for an amount in excess of what the true market value is. Vehicles depreciate continuously and you need to make sure that your sum insured is periodically revised.
Local insurance companies have a vehicle value guide which is revised annually , although not inflexible, it gives an indication as to what the current market value of different brands and models stands at. If you believe that your vehicle is worth far more than what is being indicated to you, you can appoint one of our approved surveyors to assess your car and to submit this valuation in writing.
Will my No Claims Discount be lost if I switch over my insurance?
No, it will not. Your No Claims Discount follows you wherever you may choose to go. Your new insurance company will however need to obtain written confirmation of the number of claims free years which you enjoyed with the previous insurer.
Can I transfer the No Claims Discount from my old car onto my new car?
Yes you can. All you need to do is to pay a pro-rata additional premium on your old car for the removal of the NCD to the new car, unless the old policy is being cancelled.
When is a No Claims Discount lost?
You will only lose all your NCD if you lodge more than one claim in a period of insurance. If you only make one claim under the policy within one year, a one year 'step-back' will apply. This means that you will not lose all of your NCD, but you will go one step back in the NCD scale in the following year. For a minimal additional premium you can protect your No Claim Discount and this will NOT be lost in the event of a claim.
Can I still lose my No Claims Discount even if the other party is at fault?
It all depends on how things go on your claim. If the other party is at fault and his insurance company admits full liability, then your NCD will not be effected, since we will obtain full recovery of what we have paid out on your claim.
If the other party does not get the full blame, that is, if you are also partly at fault, then your policy with us will have to operate and you will therefore have to pay the excess and your NCD will be effected.
It may be the case that, although you believe that you are not at fault, we would need to go to court to determine who is at fault - until such time as the courts decide, you will forfeit the excess and the NCD will be effected. If and when the courts decide in your favour, you are entitled to a full reimbursement of the excess and the amount of NCD which you would have lost in the meantime.
