OUR HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
In the mid-1970s Malta Insurance Brokers Limited (later to become Mediterranean Insurance Brokers Limited, MIB) was formed from the insurance division of the then national shipping line, Sea Malta. Among the initial shareholders were Hogg Robinson of London, who brought their international expertise to the new company.

In 1980, the Government formed Middlesea Insurance Company Ltd which, at the time, was run by the same staff and from the same office as MIB.

Until 1986, MIB operated not only as an insurance and reinsurance broker, but also as an agent for several overseas insurers. Legislation introduced at that time separated the broking and underwriting functions, and new structures were thus created. These were:-

(to provide academic qualifications mostly in Insurance)

In 1995 the broking operation was sold to the UK's largest broking firm. At the same time, ALLCARE INSURANCE AGENCY LTD was sold to local private interests. Presently Allcare is licensed by the Malta Financial Services Authority to represent Middlesea Insurance plc and Citadel Insurance plc.
